cbs 5 reporter anne makovec joins us now. this work is going to take crews two weekends to complete. >> reporter: yeah. the san mateo bridge behind me is going to be closed this weekend and next weekend. as you can see at the toll plaza everything is running smoothly right now. but it's going to be closed athe 10:00 tonight through -- at 10:00 tonight through 5:00 monday morning. if you have driven around this area within the past several weeks you have probably seen these signs along the highway. they have been warning commuters. caltrans crews will replace and remove part of the bridge deck. there's a cracked beam which is part of an expansion joint. the crack was discovered in 2010. caltrans put in a temporary fix and this will be a permanent one. as usual, this bridge closure is strategically timed. >> one of the most significant factors though is that there are no 9ers games for either weekend. and that's big because 9ers games always attract a lot of attention on the san mateo bridge. >> reporter: so traffic is expected

we'll be right back. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, cbs 5 news at noon. have a great afternoon. >>> today we are going to make something i learned about when i was in italy. the way they make fresh pasta with fingerling gold potatos, some of the starches are released and they add chicken stock to the fresh pasta to give it more flavor. it was fantastic. so simple to do. let me show you. all we did here is sauteed some nice fingerling golden potatoes like this. you want to saute them just for a little while with olive oil, salt and pepper. then we added mushrooms and chicken stock. we took some fresh pasta and put in some boiling water, salted boiling water for two minutes. that's it. then we put it into the saute pan and put all the flavors together at a low heat and it creates a wonderful broth. now to finish this off, we are going to just simply add a little crushed tomatoes to it for some color and flavor. not a lot, just a little bit. with some of the juice. some parsley. garlic salt. red pepper flakes. and some ground pepper. you can cover it if you

cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is in berkeley right now. the search is on for the suspects. >> reporter: that's right. right now, though, we don't have a suspect description or motive in this particular case but i want to show you the scene. it is still very active. you can see there investigators, officers here gathering evidence. now, we did have video from the scene earlier if you take a look. you can see those officers also gathered around. berkeley police got a call around 11:30 last night that the cyclist was found near longfellow middle school off of derby street. when police got to the scene, they found the male cyclist had at least one gunshot wound and officers say he was pronounced dead on scene. now, back out live you can see these roads are still blocked off as they are gathering more information. we do know that this incident is being investigated as a homicide. we are hoping within the next half hour to get more information. we are hearing that berkeley police will be sending their public information officer out here to give

cbs 5 reporter anne makovec has the latest on the source of the problem. >> reporter: good morning. they have isolated it to a boiler here at the embassy suites. this is right by sfo. and you can see right now they are trying to deal with the situation after evacuating hundreds of people from this huge hotel. hundreds right in the middle of the night. they are trying to get people back into their rooms because they have ventilated the hotel. the problem appears to be over. but this all started about 12:30 this morning. firefighters were called here. they determined there was a high level of carbon monoxide. and that's when they started the evacuations. a hazmat team came in. the health department. that is when they isolated it to a malfunctioning boiler. they shut that boiler down and again started the ventilation process of this very large building. and now that they are trying to get everybody back in they are trying to first get people with flights to catch, obviously a huge inconvenience to be kicked out of your room in the middle of the night. so they are trying to figure this
